How to get to Rhodes
Rhodes is easily accessible and the choice of transport depends on your departure point and your preferences. Depending on availability and the type of trip you wish to make, you can choose:
Airplane:
- Rhodes "Diagoras" airport welcomes flights from various parts of Greece and is 14 kilometers from the city of Rhodes. There are direct flights available from Athens, Thessaloniki, Kos, Karpathos, Kastellorizo, Mykonos, Santorini and Heraklion, Crete.
- Rhodes is connected to the rest of the world with numerous flights and especially during the summer many charter flights arrive, mainly from England, Germany and Scandinavian countries.
- The journey from Athens to Rhodes takes about 40 minutes.
Boat:
If you prefer to travel by sea, you have the option of taking a ferry from various ports in Greece to Rhodes.
There are daily ferry services from Piraeus to the island. The trip from Piraeus to Rhodes takes approximately 12 to 15 hours.
Ferry connections are also available to other islands of the Dodecanese cluster, as well as to Crete and the Cyclades islands, such as Santorini.
Where to stay in Rhodes?
Depending on your preferences, Rhodes offers various places to stay.
Indicatively, the nearby seaside resorts of Ixia, Ialyssos, Kallithea and Faliraki are quite popular.
The old town of Rhodes is distinguished by its medieval character, with alleys and historical sights.
If you are looking for quiet, traditional villages such as Archangelos are excellent options.
